New Club in Edmeston on a Mission to Microfinance the Future!

The Edmeston Central School District Interact Club, a high school service club sponsored and supported by the Rotary Club of Edmeston, New York, recently became a Bridges of Peace and Peace and Hope Club.

Since it started 12 years ago, the club has made many microfinance loans through Kiva.org to help people in other countries start and expand their small businesses, improve their homes, pay school expenses, and improve their lives in many other ways. To date the club has made 146 loans in 72 countries around the world. Visit www.kiva.org to find out more.

Recently the Edmeston Interact Club teamed up with their local Rotary Club to donate $500.00 toward a Rotary Foundation Global Grant to bring clean water to schools and communities in northern Costa Rica through the non-governmental organization “Agua Viva Serves.” See www.aguavivaserves.org to learn more about their work.

There are many ways that individuals and BoPH clubs can do good around the world by working with their local service clubs, churches, or other helping organizations. I encourage you to start talking with those groups to find how they are doing good in the world and how you and your clubs can help them.
